My Deepavali Activities + BATTLEFIELD 3

It was really refreshing to wake up in the morning of midweek not having to go to work. I smiled as I had something in mind. A very important one that is; “Need to collect ‘BATTLEFIELD 3′ today“, says my mental note. I had a hearty portion of fried noodles splashed with tomato sauce. Hazirah fried egg-covered toasts and we dug in some more.

I was glued to the television set watching National Geographic’s ‘SECONDS TO DISASTER: AIRCRAFT CARRIER EXPLOSION’ which talks about 1967 USS Forrestal fire. More than hundred crew perished as I watched the horrifying footage which showed exploding fighter jets with pilots, stuck in cockpits, unable to escape the blaze and cooked bombs. If you ask me, I think I would freeze when faced with situation like this. For that, I truly respect the people who have lost their lives trying to save others.

Met my darling at almost 1400hrs and off we went to town. Parked at Shaw Centre and we were debating whether we were going to the right location. I refused to walk to the building opposite Carousel citing that it is Far East Plaza while she insisted it is Far East Shopping Centre. In the midst of the loud debate, I noticed a middle-aged man observing us while sipping his drink at McCafe. After about ten to fifteen minutes of re-aligning our bearings, we walked to the CORRECT Far East Shopping Centre with a girlish polka-dot umbrella in my hand. I am glad that I smiled and squeezed every ounce of patience I had so that our short outing was not spoiled. Once we reached Qisahn, the transaction was fast. I showed the documentation for the game’s acquisition and, within two minutes, we were going down a series of escalators to exit the shopping centre.

I had a surprise in mind and dragged my darling to Takashimaya. She complained that it is her very first time going to town without any make-up on. She was in a QUIKSILVER cap, white top bearing the words, “Tokyo loves you as a friend” and jeans. We went to a designated shop but she told me that there is no need to rush to acquire the item. So, off we went home after getting Ben & Jerry’s ice-cream in tubs.

Once home, I rushed for shower and prayers. At 1720hrs, set-up of PS3 felt forever despite the fact I was plugging the cables faster than stripping an M-16 assault rifle. ‘BATTLEFIELD 3′ seems to have a more serious storyline compared to my favourite FPS game, its spin-off, ‘BATTLEFIELD: BAD COMPANY 1 & 2′ series. You start out as an escaped US military detainee, SGT Blackburn, trying to stop a bombing in New York City. After completing an air-bombing mission, I stopped at dawn for more prayers before deciding for some more family activity. I was not able to connect to any online server for multiplayer games.

Since it was Deepavali holiday, my family channel-surfed past the numerous Indian channels in search for Hindi movie with stars whom we are familiar with. Then, we stumbled upon ‘DHOOM 2′ on Sony TV. Alas! Got to see my favourite Bollywood actor, Hrithik Roshan. We already missed two-third of the three-hour movie and tried to salvage whatever there is left. While watching my hero in a routine sing and dance portion of the movie, I decided to text darling the following:

Me I can’t stop looking at myself on Sony TV! :P
Darling Oh meeeeee gaaaawd…!

I do not understand why people do not like him! :( My former poly-mate even remarked, “Why would you want to like that chicken?!”

Hrithik Roshan

Better actor than stiff Arjun Rampal
